This latest project features a 2020 Acura MDX PMX Edition equipped with a full Air Lift 3P air suspension system and a custom OEM-plus trunk setup, designed and executed by the Serious Innovations crew.
The goal for this build was clear:
clean, functional, and factory-inspired — with just enough detail to stand out.
At the heart of the system is Air Lift 3P management, delivering reliable height control and smooth operation for a daily-driven luxury SUV. Suspension duties are handled by FLYAIR air struts, chosen for proper ride quality, suspension geometry, and long-term durability.
In the rear, we designed a custom trunk layout centered around a Seamless Tank (18” x 6”), creating a compact and refined foundation that keeps the trunk usable while elevating the presentation. The system is supported by dual blacked-out Viair 444C compressors, paired with chrome water traps for both performance and visual contrast.
To maintain a high standard of quality and reliability, the entire air system was assembled using stainless steel compression fittings, ensuring clean routing, long-term durability, and a professional finish throughout.
To bring the setup to life visually, we incorporated custom hardlines, precision-bent to create a symmetrical, intentional design. Each line was polished to a chrome-like finish, adding depth and reflection without overwhelming the OEM-plus aesthetic. Subtle RGBW lighting was added to highlight the system, allowing the trunk to transform from understated to show-ready at the flip of a switch.
This build is a perfect example of how air suspension and trunk fabrication can coexist with a factory-inspired look, without sacrificing usability or reliability.
